Taste of France

It’s been a while since our last post, but that’s only because we were busy organising events to entertain the French-speaking community at MIT!

At the end of February, we hosted  a “Taste of France” with our Belgian friends, where the Clubs and benevolent volunteers served french and belgian food to more than 300 MIT students! There was a choice of quiche, gratin dauphinois, and of course chocolate and waffles.

Students from MIT also participated in an impressionist painting challenge to represent their vision of France. These paintings, along with gift cards, were raffled and two attendees went home with these amazing paintings.

We want to thank MISTI France and the GSC for helping us fund and organise this event.

We are very happy to welcome the new students and loyal fellows eager to practice French and share more about our culture! What a great way to start this year with a nice afternoon tasting cheese, dry sausage and baguette. From bocce games to trivia we had some very talented contestants participating in our challenges to win Swiss and Belgian chocolates. Thanks again for coming, we had a wonderful time getting to know all of you!

Sincerely yours,

The MIT Francophone Club

Francophone Summer Time

What a crazy summer! Breakbot concert in May launched these summer events along with the arrival of new students at MIT, we had to revive the classic Sunset picnic on the Charles in front of the school’s dome. The 2016 Euro held us spellbound for weeks and we followed  the suspense games together at the Muddy Charles Pub. The US national holiday on July 4 was another good time to at the MIT sailing pavilion where we could enjoy in first lodge a grandiose fireworks! To change from the usual meeting on Wednesday at the Muddy, we organized a sport afternoon with volleyball and slackline. Everyone has tried slacklining, a real challenge! But every effort was rewarded by the famous baguette sandwich chocolate!

Sincerely yours,
The Francophone Summer Club
